Monday Made It 8/4/14

August 5, 2014 by Amber Masters

Hi!!!
It is officially my last week of summer, and guess where I’ll be ALL week?
Yep, you guessed it, school.
My room is SLOWLY coming together.
For some reason I feel the need to reorganize EVERYTHING, every year.
Why?
I really don’t know. But let me tell you, my cabinets look good! 🙂
Today, I am linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for her Monday Made It linky.

Lets get to it!
So I have an  u.g.l.y. filing cabinet in my room. I decided to get some colored contact paper and border to cheer it up a bit! I am happy with how it turned out. I like to use the sides of filing cabinets since they are magnetic. Now it’s cute too.
Mission accomplished.

Next up was my GIANT white board easel. I thought about getting rid of this since I have a Smartboard but I was afraid I would miss it too much. When I say it’s GIANT, I really mean it. This thing is huge and awkward, but it’s what I have to work with. I decided to “cute-ify” it too. I LOVE me some washi tape. I mean I feel like it’s a sickness. I’ve been putting it on everything. I can’t stop!

Here I go with the washi tape again. My frame from the past two years was starting to bust and I was ready for a new, fresh to-do list! So, I put washi tape all around my frame and created a new to-do list that coordinates with my blog design 🙂
I love coffee. It makes me smile. So, there are coffee cups!
If you’re a coffee lover too, you can find it here!
I posted this pic last week on my instagram (@asmilingteacher), and got a ton of positive feedback. So…I thought I would share it one more time! My writing station is set up for the beginning of the year!
The black and white chevron is just ribbon. I used thumb tacks to secure it to the bulletin board behind the border! I am happy to say that it is very secure! And obviously I put washi tape on the clothespins.

Okay, this is the LAST time I will ever bring up washi tape……for today. Again, I just love this stuff. I used it to cover up the silverish frame of my bulletin board and it just screams cuteness!
Busy, busy week!
Excited, and nervous to meet my new darlings next week! Eek!
I hope you have a wonderful week! 🙂

I am humbled and grateful to have had the opportun I am humbled and grateful to have had the opportunity to visit St. Jude Children’s Hospital campus this week for the second time. Each experience has brought a range of emotions, and a desire to do more.

Noticing families out and about on campus, and knowing they’re going through what no family should ever have to go through, is nothing short of gut wrenching. Yet, you also see strength, bravery, and perseverance, as children and families continue forward in their journeys.

There’s also an overwhelming sense of community, family, and hope. Hearing from former patients and their families, ignites a fire in you to spread awareness, and join the fight in ending childhood cancer. St. Jude promises not to stop until no child dies from cancer.

Each staff member I’ve encountered at St. Jude is invested in the mission, and is an incredible human being. I’m grateful for their passion to serve others, their wealth of knowledge, and their willingness to share the amazing work that’s being done at St. Jude.

Together, we will make a difference. ❤️ If you’d like to support St. Jude, but aren’t sure where to start or how to get involved, send me a DM and I can share some ideas!
