Five for Friday/Saturday! 8/16/14

August 16, 2014 by Amber Masters

OH.MY.WORD. We started school this week and I don’t think I’ve ever been so tired…well maybe last year at this time! I feel like I’ve been doing nothing but modeling this week. Sooooooooooo much modeling!! It will all be worth it when they’re independent in a few weeks!  Any who, I missed Five for Friday with Doddle Bugs Teaching last night because I just couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer, so I’m linking up just a little late 🙂

In addition to it being the first week of school, my Corbin and I celebrated our anniversary on August 14th. I can’t believe it has been 4 years (we’ve been together for 11)! He truly is my best friend and my biggest supporter. I’m a lucky lady 🙂

My wonderful husband picked the best time of year to start ripping up our flooring…..NOT! We currently have plywood sub floor all through our kitchen! NO BIG DEAL 🙂

Seriously, I shouldn’t complain. I thought he was going to break his back getting the layers of linoleum off. Bless his heart, he’s a keeper. I MUST stop complaining!

We have our new floors! But it’s probably going to take a long while to get them in! We carried in 111 boxes last night! I am crazy sore but super excited that they are here!!

Awhile back  I posted the note I am going to send home when my students move to yellow. I thought it was really important that parents understand that we want to make it a teachable moment and that students need to reflect on their actions. The other teachers at my school thought the same thing, but didn’t really think the “oops” note was appropriate for the upper elementary grades. So, I talked with them and created one that is a little different for the older students but still focuses on the reflection piece.

On the second day of kindergarten we read Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes .

I LOVE Pete and so do all of my kids! We read the book, rocked out to the song and went on a tour of our school. I taught them how to use clipboards and we used these checklists during our tour. The kids loved this!  They felt so “official” walking through the hallways, holding their clipboards and doing real school work!

This one, however, will for sure be running well into the school year. 😂🏡

After years of looking for land, designing our home, clearing the property, and then making more changes to the house plans (because apparently we weren’t done making decisions 😂), we’re excited to say… WE BROKE GROUND! 🚜🎉

We’re so excited for the journey ahead and plan to enjoy the ride! 🏡🤍✨

🔥✨ It’s been one week and I’m still smili 🔥✨ It’s been one week and I’m still smiling from my first-ever Campfire at FlyingHorseFarms!

Flying Horse Farms is this magical camp in Central Ohio, where kids with serious illnesses get to just be kids — to laugh, play, and make memories that heal in ways medicine can’t. 🏕️✨

Camp isn’t just a place — it’s a feeling. A reminder that when all kids get to be kids, the world shines a little brighter. 🩷

Seeing that magic up close reminded me how powerful community can be when we come together. 🫶🏻

But here’s the best part: camp is 100% free for every family — all thanks to incredible volunteers and donors who make the magic possible. 🙌

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to get involved… this is it. ✨

Hi! 👋🏻 I’ve been super quiet on instagram Hi! 👋🏻 I’ve been super quiet on instagram over the past year, and it was for the best reason. We welcomed baby sister during the first week of summer and I’m officially a mom of 2! 💕I’m looking forward to getting back to sharing classroom ideas with you in August. Hope you all are having a relaxing and restful summer! ☀️
